Spells, Duration and Magic Resistance
-
If a spell is resisted, the caster gets no direct indication - although if
expected flames do not appear it is likely the spells was resisted!
Conversely, a target which resists a spell is made aware of the attempt,
but if they fail they do not notice (apart from the flames leaping up around
them!)
-
All spells that directly affect a target are resisted by the Parma Magica,
except for spells cast with Range: Personal.
-
Intellego spells that only touch the external image (or similar) to not need
to penetrate the target, and will always reveal their information (successful
Magic Resistance informs the target of the spell);
Intellego spells that pry within must penetrate Magic Resistance or reveal
"nothing".
-
Spells with duration other than Concentration or Ring cannot
be cancelled, even by the caster, except by the use of subsequent magics
(e.g. Perdo Vim) - unless specifically designed into the spell. [Few
spells have such design, and they may require casting tools, such as the
Skin required for Shape of the Woodland Prowler.]
-
Items enchanted with effects of Range: Personal affect the Item only:
an item effect must have Range of at least Touch to affect
its wearer.
An exception covers e.g. tattoos such as Criamon Imprints, where the
Person and the Tattoo are one.
