A First Visit to La Roche

After the Tribunal meeting at Mummolides, the founding magi: Joach, Speranda and Saskia, gathered to them grogs released by Mummolides, to visit the glade of La Roche Caribet. Progress was slowed by the accompanying wagons and gear, but the caravan reached the glade after a week on the road, skirting towns and camping rough.

On the final leg of their journey they travelled through the Forest proper, and to the Hermitage-Lorge. The Magi were somewhat dismayed at the strength of the local Dominion Aura (Maga Saskia chose to take on her Heart-shape and circle round the Hermitage). The grogs were able to determine the Aura as arising from Saints' Relics, and the Hermitage being a Pilgrimage site. The Hermitage guards were curious as to the destination and purpose of the caravan, and the Magi, being indisposed by the Dominion, left it to their Consortes to compose an account of their travels and a purported destination.

At the end of the journey, the caravan made camp in the glade, finding it much as the account of Elementus told it. The Magi set to exploring their surroundings leaving the grogs to maintain the temporary camp. However, the peace was broken when the reports began of attacks on isolated grogs, by a mysterious "glowing globe". While the Magi sought discovery of the attacker, one of the grogs, Zane Le Fae, who is said to have the Second Sight, saw something but disappeared while investigating. He later re-appeared with an account of a Skeleton and a lost Merchant, trapped in what the Magi recognised as a Magical Regio. The lost Merchant seemed to be a Ghost bound to the skeleton, himself perceiving the Mundane world as Ghostly. Zane was able to lead another grog back into the Regio to talk to the ghost, and to recover his bones for a proper Christian burial. Alas, Zane's Sight did not so easily lead him away from the ghost as to it. The Magi set about resolving the situation by means of their magics, but a mishap in Rego Imaginem threw all of the image (sight and sound) of Magus Joach into the Regio while leaving him and his senses in the mundane world. Conversation with the ghost eventually led to the ghost making visible the mundane persons present, which vision allowed the grogs to step through taking the bones with them.

The Consortes took the bones to L'Hermitage where the brothers gave them their rites, and with that the Ghost departed, and the Regio collapsed. Subsequent investigation showed that the Regio had diminished from covering the whole glade, to the confines of a single pace around the Roche. Since the Aura within the Regio is stronger than that of the glade, the Magi have made plans to construct their Laboratory building to enclose the Roche, with an inner circular chamber allowing ingress by doors from each Laboratory room.
