The Plot

The Council Saxi Caribeti desires the Conjuration of a Tower, with the skill and Vis to be provided by magi more experienced and wealthy than themselves, in return for which they will enter into so form of debt arrangement with the donors of the Tower. Since the Parentes of four of the five magi in the Council are present, and their filii recognise their debt and duty to their parentes, the four filii have agreed to stay largely out of the debate, and to place most responsibility onto their sodalis Speranda.

Four other Covenants have sent a representative, choosing to send the parens (or sponsor) of a filius at Saxum Caribetum for greater influence. Each of these Covenants has the wealth (or the means to acquire the wealth) to provide the Vis for the Ritual, and would like a debt of favour to be owed to themselves; or has an equally strong desire to ensure that some other Covenant does not obtain favour over themselves. Rather than have the junior magi make decisions affecting themselves, they would prefer to fabricate some deal amongst themselves, presenting a single offer to the Council Saxi Caribeti.

The Redcap Aversus represents, in some fashion, the Council of Criamon magi at Mummolides, who saw fit to sponsor the founding of Saxum Caribetum. He has a friendly, avuncular relationship with the new Covenant, and would be distressed to see the manipulative schemers gaining undue influence over the growing magi.

Urbanus Verbus will turn up part way through the proceedings and announce himself as paying a "friendly visit" to neighbouring magi, by coincidence when the other visitors are here; but later reveal matters of vital import (that he might sow further dissent).

The Debate

The day began with a feast, of the simple local produce, made glorious by our magics. Speranda closed the feast and opened the debates by making a greeting speech, reminding the magi of the reason for calling them, and the matters they were to agree upon.

To the accompaniment of airy voices, conjured again from Imaginis, the magi broke apart into pairs and trios to discuss their approaches and offers, to learn the attitude of others, and to trade favours.

Several of those present have recorded their private views and impressions of the day.

Finally, a number of agreements were made and sworn in front of the Quæsitores
